This week I’m adding a couple of films I’ve enjoyed recently. The Killer by David Fincher. The fascinating pseudo biography of Lydia Tár and a Terror tale from Australia, published by A24.

🎬 The Killer (2023) 🎯

David Fincher is one of my favourite directors because he draws inspiration from innovation, keeps a clean style, and presents with elegance. And with his latest film, The Killer, I got the impression that, as the protagonist, Fincher allowed himself to enjoy his almost obsessive method. The plot is intriguing and precise, immersing us in an obsession for detail and processes that elevates the entire experience to a visual and narrative delight. Special mention goes to the soundtrack featuring The Smiths, and as always, the impeccable musical score by Trent Reznor + Atticus Ross.

🎬 Tár (2022) 🎼

Todd Field immerses us in the world of top-tier classical music, where Lydia Tár, portrayed tremendously by Cate Blanchett, is one of the most acclaimed composers and conductors of modern orchestras. Amid an important and historic performance, the publication of her autobiography, and an elite environment, we gradually begin to decipher and unveil her manipulative and chaotic personality. Despite being referred to as an anti-woke film by some reviewers, this film is a compelling narrative of manipulation, critique, and reflection on contemporary cultural spheres.

🎥Talk to me (2023)🫳

It begins like a typical paranormal horror film, yet despite its lightweight script, the handling of the supernatural dynamics, a couple of refreshing twists and quite disturbing and intense scenes. This Australian horror film published by A24 is an enjoyable experience.
